Fine Kava was born through the love of faikava—a traditional gathering where kava is prepared and consumed, often in a social seting—and the want to authentically share it with a wider audience. In Tongan culture, faikava creates spaces for storytelling, music, and meaningful connection. Kava is both literally and symbolically the root that binds us during these moments to cherish.

“Small but great”
We are a small family business with roots in Tonga, Samoa, and Hawaiʻi. And while we may be small, our mission is big: to elevate the traditional experience of kava through authenticity, quality, and a spritz of flavor while honoring the cultural traditions and matuʻa that shaped the way.
Our kava business is currently focusing on offering kava at pop-up events, but we hope to build up and share our products internationally! Check out our schedule of events or follow us on Instagram or Facebook to stay up to date! Traditional Tongan kava—our “OG Mrs. Brown”—is the heart of our menu. It connects us to generations of ceremony, community, and wellness. But we know the earthy taste of kava isn’t for everyone, so we also offer a variety of flavored kava options. It’s our way of sharing the calming benefits of kava in a form that’s welcoming, approachable, and still respectful of the communities that own this custom.
Our kava is sourced directly from Pacific Islander communities. We honor the time, effort, and dedication of these farmers. We ensure that every cup of kava that we serve comes directly from farm to ʻipu.
This business is in memory of the late Fine and Tiliani Tauatevalu.
Raised in the village of Tungua, Haʻapai, the late Fine Tauatevalu met his wife, the late Tiliani Heimuli of Mataika, in Lāʻie, Hawaiʻi while she was attending BYU–Hawaiʻi. Fine and Tili’s hard work, sacrifices, and deep love for their family and homeland, gave the Tauatevalu ʻohana a legacy to honor and carry forward.
